Clopidogrel bisulfate is indicated for the secondary prevention (after occurrence) of atherothrombotic events, such as acute myocardial infarction (MI) (heart attack), cerebrovascular accident (CVA) (stroke) and vascular death in adult patients who have had a recent MI or CVA or a condition known as peripheral arterial disease (disease in the blood vessels of the limbs).
Acute Coronary Syndrome - In patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) [unstable angina (severe type of chest pain) or MI], including both those clinically controlled and those undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention with or without stent placement (prosthesis in the arteries of the heart).
Atrial Fibrillation - Clopidogrel bisulfate 75 mg is indicated in adults for the prevention of atherothrombotic and thromboembolic events (specific conditions characterized by the formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel) in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) (a type of arrhythmia in which the heart beats rapidly and in a disordered manner) who have at least one risk factor for the occurrence of vascular events (e.g. stroke, heart attack, etc.) and who cannot be treated with drugs known as "vitamin K antagonists" (VKAs) (eg, stroke, heart attack) and who cannot be treated with drugs known as "vitamin K antagonists" (VKAs) (e.g. risk of bleeding or medical assessment). risk of bleeding or a medical assessment that has concluded that the use of VKAs is inappropriate).
