BRIEF DESCRIPTION/INDICATION
Xifaxan (rifaximin) is an antibiotic used against intestinal bacteria in people with hepatic encephalopathy (liver disease that causes agitation, confusion, muscle problems, speech difficulties and in some cases can lead to coma). Xifaxan® is intended to treat and reduce the recurrence of episodes of hepatic encephalopathy in adults with liver disease.
